Directed by Peter Seagal, & starring Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore.
A movie about a guy, Henry, who never stops strying to make this girl, Lucy, to fall in love with him every day. The girl actually suffers from short-term memory loss and has the inability to remember day-to-day events after her accident. Henry's certain that he's already in love with her & he doesn't give up trying his luck to get the girl's attention & love. Funny & the storyline is good. -

I am not an Adam Sandler fan, and 50 First Dates contains things I dislike about Adam Sandler films. Such as ... Adam Sandler. And Rob Schneider. And random senseless, crass humor.
On the other hand, it has a lot of things I do like. Sandler is toned down and somewhat endearing, and Drew Barrymore steals the show in her endearing role. The plot (Lucy has "Goldfield Syndrome" and loses her memory at the end of each day) seems like an excuse for a one note joke. Interestingly enough, the other characters are the ones who seem to be standing still, while Lucy is the one who evolves the most throughout the course of the film. I quite enjoyed the ending as well.
I was quite prepared to give 50 First Dates a four, but I'm docking half a star for how fast and loose the film plays with amnesia and their completely fabricated medical condition. I know, there wouldn't even be a film without it, but it still makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I didn't think I'd find another enjoyable Adam Sandler film after "The Wedding Singer", but I guess Sandler + Barrymore = win. -

Both a mixture of romance and comedy combined with a slight touching element makes an enjoyable comedy. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are their usual best, but the highlights of the film go to Rob Schneider and his hilarious character.

Drew Barrymore played out the role of the forgetful blonde really well nd Adam Sandler make it even better. Its a touchng story of how hard some things are for certain people BUT there is alwys a way to over come it.

"Henry Roth" (Adam Sandler) meets the girl of his dreams (Drew Barrymore), but she doesn't remember meeting him over-and-over due to a head injury that has destroyed her short-term memory. He falls madly in love with her and gets her family and friends to realize how wrong they are in keeping her reliving the last day she remembers over and over again.
This movie is a unbelievable love story with a few laughs. To the best of my knowledge, there is no documented cases of people who lose their memory when they go to bed every night.
The only ones who have any character development are Sandler's and Barrymore's. All the others are just there for the most part to advance the amnesia plot. You would think that they would have tried to help her regain her memory instead of a stranger who comes into their lives.
Rob Sneider as Sandler's pot-smoking buddy provides most of the laughs, but his character is not in the movie that much and he doesn't really steal any scenes.
The chemistry between Sandler and Barrymore is near perfect. Both make their characters so sweet and caring. They are the only reason to see this movie. And for once, Sandler doesn't act like a jerk in this movie -- in my opinion.
"50 First Dates" is an ok movie that barely makes my list as a first choice to rent. -

Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have undeniable chemistry. This movie is sweet, funny, and surprisingly makes you think a little. Watch for a great cameo by Dan Akroyd.

I love chick flicks. This one was so funny. There are some bad sex scenes and comments that could have been deleted and made the movie more fun.
